江戸時代は豪商として、明治時代以降は日本一の地主として知られた本間家が創始者となり、昭和22年に開館した美術館です。
The Honma family is one of the most rich family in Japan during the Edo and Meiji period. This museum was built by Honma family. It has Japanese garden.
通称「キウリ天王様」と親しまれている神社です。 祭礼でお供えしてご祈祷したキュウリを食べると1年間無病息災に過ごせると伝えられています。
Yakumo Shrine is located near the Sakata Guest House. At this shirine, you can make a wish for good health or prosperity.
森敦の小説「月山」の舞台となっている湯殿山注連寺の元末寺。 庄内には6体の即身仏(ミイラ)があり、そのうち2体が砂高山海向寺の即仏堂に祀られています。
There are two mummies in Kaikoji Temple. Japanese mummy is self-mummified buddhist monk. They are called living Buddha.
旧光丘文庫は、大正14年（1925年）に本間家の蔵書をはじめとした貴重な蔵書を集めて建設されました。30年以上にわたり市立図書館として利用されてきた建物です。外観のみの見学となります。
This is a old library in Sakata built in 1925. It had nationally valuable collection. It is closed now, but you can see its unique exterior.
天明4年(1784年) に本間光丘によって建立された神社。 秋にはイチョウの葉が黄色に色付き、落葉後の風景も楽しむことができます。
Shimo Hie Shrine is built by Mitsuoka Honma in 1784. You can make a wish for good health or prosperity at this shirine. In autumn, you can enjoy beautiful foliage of Ginkgo trees.
最上川や鳥海山、酒田市内を見渡せる丘の上に建つ、広い敷地を持つ美術館です。建物も開放的で、緑豊かな庭園と素晴らしい景観を楽しむことができます。
It is an art museum with a large site built on a hill overlooking the Mogami River, Mt. Chokai and Sakata City. The building is spacious and you can enjoy the beautiful garden and the wonderful landscape.

桜の名所でもあり、毎年4月には酒田日和山桜まつりが開催される公園。園内には木造六角燈台や、江戸時代に使われた千石船のレプリカなどがあります。
Hiyoriyama Park is a large park on the hill. Every April, beautiful cherry blossoms bloom and the Cherry Blossom Festival is held. There is a wooden lighthouse and a large replica of old merchant ship (Sengoku ship).

ドラマ・映画「おしん」の舞台としても有名な庄内米の貯蔵庫。土蔵造12棟とケヤキ並木が並んでいます。酒田市観光物産館「酒田夢の倶楽」が併設されており、酒田の歴史紹介ブースや飲食店・お土産品コーナーがあります。
Sankyo Rice Storehouses are 12 rice storehouses built in 1893. They are symbol of Sakata. The zelkova trees along the back are famous for their beauty.

鮮魚・野菜・果物・特産品・酒などを扱う店舗でにぎわっている、きれいな市場です。隣に新鮮な魚介類を扱うさかた海鮮市場もあります。
Minato Ichiba is a clean and amusing market of fresh sea foods, vegetables, fruits, special local products and sake.
相馬樓は、舞子茶屋です。江戸時代に料亭相馬屋として建設されました。造りは伝統的な日本家屋で、中には絵画、書道、骨董品などが展示されています。舞子による舞いの鑑賞もできます。
Somaro is a Maiko teahouse. It was built as Somaya restaurant in the Edo period. It is a beautiful traditional Japanese house. You can appreciate dances performed by Maiko.

西回り航路で酒田港が大変繁栄した江戸時代、本間家は日本で最も栄えた商家であり地主でした。本間家旧本邸は、1768年に三代目光丘により建てられました。
The Honma Family was one of the most prosperous merchants and landowners in Japan during the Edo period. The Honma Historical Residence was built in 1768 by Honma Mitsuoka.
