Ken Domon is a photographer who was active in the Showa period. He is evaluated around the world as a great photographer.
He took pictures of people, temples, Buddha statues, etc. He pursued realism in his work.
He donated his 70,000 works to Sakata City.
Ken Domon Museum of Photography, built in 1983, has all of his works.
His masterpieces such as “Koji Junrei”, “Muroji” and “Hiroshima” are displayed in order at this museum.
The museum has a large garden with a pond and you can enjoy a walk in the green garden.

土門拳は昭和に活躍した写真家で、海外でも高い評価を得ています。

土門拳は彼の全作品70,000点を酒田市に寄贈しています。
1983年に建てられたこの土門拳記念館は、彼の全作品を所蔵しています。
彼の代表作「古寺巡礼」「室生寺」「広島」なども、順次展示しています。
